Petitions to

Protect Public Land

Decisions about public land shouldn’t be made by two commissioners and a handful of private interests. They should be made by you, the citizens of Yamhill County. That’s why we are collecting signatures - to ensure every voice is heard.

About The Petitions

Oregon law gives voters the power to weigh in directly on important decisions in their community. We’re using the ballot initiative/referendum process to make sure the future of our publicly owned parks and trails are decided by the people, not just two commissioners and a handful of private interests. We are collecting signatures for:

  • A referendum to keep the Yamhelas Trail Corridor in county plans (YAM-2025-004)
  • An initiative to protect public access to the Yamhelas Trail (YAM-2025-002)
  • An initiative to ensure a public vote before park and trail sales (YAM-2025-003)

Three petitions. Three ballot measures. Learn more about each below:

YAM-2025-004: Referendum on Ordinance 948 (Yamhelas Westsider Trail)

YAM-2025-004 refers to the voters a recent decision made by Yamhill County Commissioners on March 19, 2026 to remove the Yamhelas Westsider Trail from the County Transportation System Plan.
